The Wheelchair Alliance recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
It was on 20th July 2015 that the National Wheelchair Leadership Alliance was formed, with our current name of Wheelchair Alliance being adopted in March 2021.
This special anniversary was marked with a range of activities, including the creation of a commemorative anniversary logo and timeline, alongside a newsletter which was sent direct to all of our members. You can read this issue at: https://bit.ly/4lntWTn
During the anniversary celebrations, we also talked to some of those who have been with us since the very start of our journey, including our CEO and co-founder, Nick Goldup, the Alliance’s President Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Professor Moira Livingstone, former NHS Improving Quality clinical director.
We also created a talking head video of Nick, who spoke about the journey both he and Wheelchair Alliance have been on.
As a community interest company, we are incredibly proud of our recent successes, pushing forward the agenda with Government on the issues facing wheelchair users accessing the right chair at the right time.
Coming together as one Alliance to represent wheelchair users, NHS, manufacturers and charities is the right approach. A big thank you goes out to everyone for their hard work and dedication over the last decade.
However, we still have a long journey ahead to ensure fair provision for all.
Looking to the future, we welcome support in any way that you can, including by signing up to become a member of the Wheelchair Alliance. Membership is free for wheelchair users, their families and primary carers, and will give those signing up access to a range of benefits, online resources and the latest news.
