The Wheelchair Alliance Special Interest Group (SIG) for Innovation aims to support the Wheelchair Alliance in the delivery of its strategy by considering wheelchair innovation that supports expansion of the types of wheelchairs and suppliers linked to NHS provision. Innovation should lead to better choice and outcomes for wheelchair users and the best use of public sector finance.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Identify innovations in mobility equipment, refining processes, workflows and frameworks and bringing about a clearer, improved service for wheelchair users through the NHS
IMPROVING SERVICES
Utilise expertise to inform commissioners of best practices, ensuring that wheelchair users, their families and care givers have their assessed needs and quality-of-life outcomes satisfied
CHANGES IN POLICIES
Provide positive data-led arguments that can be brought to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Wheelchair Users, to influence government policy on the provision of equipment
RESEARCH-LED
Use research and evidence to inform discussions on innovation, identifying what wheelchair users need and how to best provide it to them
INFORMED BY DATA
Use data to inform improvements in the current funding for wheelchairs in the NHS and, therefore, available to Integrated Care Boards
